Remodel Your Kitchen the Retro Way With Vintage Kitchen ApplianceBy William I. Neil
In this era where fast-paced lifestyle is greatly observed, it is quite surprising that somehow we feel a little nostalgic over the days gone by. People are hunting down for things that although commercially phased out in favor of modern equipments, are restored due to their invaluable significance in our memories. Retro-inspired stuffs, whether furniture or kitchen equipments, are currently making a comeback in today’s kitchens. For those who long for the good old days, acquiring a vintage kitchen appliance is the best way to start putting up a new kitchen that exists in a laidback retro atmosphere.
One thing that best describes a retro kitchen is its being reminiscent of the classic design that had been around during the 1940’s to 1960’s. It would often remind the baby boomers of their childhood days inside their grandma’s kitchen where everything seemed uncomplicated and that the foods were prepared the old-fashioned way. Having a vintage kitchen appliance is like taking a 360-degree turn to the Post-War era home. Although not necessarily of low quality when compared to modern equipments of today, a retro appliance can also be a vintage-inspired device that is also built with contemporary utility. Equipments such as this basically use the vintage appeal to serve as a camouflage for the specs and features that are based on modern standards.
A vintage kitchen appliance is often easily distinguishable by its color. Most retro-looking equipments and furniture are painted with vibrant pastel hues and sultry reds. These colors are responsible for creating a kitchen that is both warm and appealing to the eyes. In fact, any bright colored equipment for the kitchen is considered great for establishing a vintage layout. However, if you prefer a genuine retro feel, you can still search for such stuffs in the local vintage shops, home depots and even online stores.
Some of the great market finds for vintage kitchen appliance include stoves, blenders, toasters, espresso makers and a variety of food processors. If you are working on a budget, you may simply purchase a few restored appliances that are being sold at discounted prices. A vintage kitchen does not have to be a room packed with things that are otherwise impractical to use these days. Have at least two retro-inspired appliances that run on the current technology and are big enough to attract attention. You can also boost the 40’s/60’s layout by incorporating decors and furniture that suggest the looks of this period.
When deciding on a particular vintage kitchen appliance, say a hip retro stove, it is important to consider its usefulness. Avoid being tempted to buy a retro device if you are not sure how it will going to work in your kitchen; especially if it requires a huge space. That would be a complete waste of money since you are merely projecting a period kitchen. Always check out things for their utility and practical benefit inside your kitchen. There are devices that can be furnished for the desired kitchen layout without sacrificing their value. Also, be warned that genuine vintage appliances might demand more time from the users. To avoid this hassle, you can check out for modern equipments that are rather retro-style.
